ABSTRACT HOUSE | Sean Samon Opening: 17th May 6.30-8.30pm Exhibition: 16th May - 26th May Sean Samon’s Abstract House explores the fragility of the card house motif with a gallery audience through an interactive installation. Through multimodal re-presentations of card houses Sean engages the viewer to explore the range of visual angles and viewpoints in construction. The multimodal articulation of Sean’s works reifies how re-presentations are based on constructions from particular subject positions. Sean positions the audience to explore how meaning, in a singular mode of articulation, is left to the symbolic world of representational systems, however, through offering his audience differing modes of presentation of the same object, Sean offers us an insight into the finer nuances of an artist’s intentionality. Seen in this framework, the audience is left to question the force of the aesthetic against the constructivist approach. Sean Samon is a Melbourne based artist who received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Victorian College of the Arts. He has exhibited works across Victoria and has been involved in several collaborations both interstate and internationally.
